Viebrock passes new State Symbol.

The Washburn School districts seventh and eighth grade science students, as part of a class project, choose the Three Toed Box Turtle as a suitable candidate to be the Official State Reptile. The students selected the turtle due to its appearance in nearly every county in the State and the importance the Three Toed Box Turtle has in our eco system.
Additionally, the students learned how a bill becomes law and how their State Government works. Representative Viebrock and Senator Goodman carried the bill for the kids in the legislature. “Overall these are good, hands-on projects for the students.” Viebrock said, “ The passage of this bill isn’t huge in the grand scheme of lawmaking, but to these kids- it’s everything. I’ll bet they’ll remember this for the rest of their lives”.
